7500? I think there were 5000 seats before and they are going to add 2500 (half the existing capacity)? Where? Number 1, they don't need 7500, and number 2, not sure where they would find the room. Maybe each seat only gets room for one butt cheek ;D Well, they could use the extra 2500 for graduation, couldn't they? Everybody's always complaining/pleading about extra graduation tickets...

they put some pictures up. mostly the locker rooms but they did show bleachers totally removed. you can picture the bowl there talking about with the bleachers gone, its like a lot of room.

I haven't seen anywhere where it says that the plan calls for any walls to be knocked down or moved. I could be wrong. See "Ask The AD With Craig Angelos, April 11th, 2007" Question from Justin In regards to the basketball stadium, will there be seating behind both baskets? On TV it makes a huge difference... Response from Athletics Director Craig Angleos With regard to seating in the new arena, we will have chair back seating behind both baskets so it will be enclosed in a bowl. In fact, we will have chair back seating throughout the whole arena with exception of the east side bleachers which will be for the student section hopefully to stand up and make a lot of noise throughout the games" The problem with this, of course, is ...which is a picture posted on the Arena Construction Gallery on August 13th (yesterday) According to Angelos' blog, the seating capacity will be decreasing. I don't doubt there may have been plans for seating behind the goals but that doesn't seem to be happening anymore. The seating behind the goals may have brought it up to 7500. It must have changed to stay within budget. I don't see how even with chair backs, the seating could decrease or even stay the same by adding seating behind the goals. Angelos did not confirm that at one time it was planned for 7500. We all know these guys give minimal answers on these questions. we need the dome.Ask The AD With Craig Angelos August 23, 2007 Question from Joe I know I read somewhere a while back that the seating capacity of the arena will be increased to 7500. Can you confirm that? I can't seem to find that information anymore. Response from Athletics Director Craig Angelos Joe: The seating capacity for the arena last year was approximately 5,000 seats. With the renovation this year which include chair back seating it should go down slightly but it will still be around 4,900-5,000 especially after the suites also got in. I look forward to seeing you at the game. Craig

It certainly sounds like the plans have changed a little. Adding chairbacks in place of bleachers does decrease capacity just because the chairs take up more space. Seating capacity isn't a major concern right now anyway. If we can get half the place full on average next season, that would be outstanding. Hopefully it becomes a problem quickly though!
It is interesting that it seems that they are putting in some suites. I assume that they will be upstairs where the auxillary bleachers were. I think it is a great idea...something I have suggested in the past. I wonder if they got the idea from reading my post?? If so, I will gladly allow them to use it! ;D

i think its better if we have less seating. that will push more people futher up and make it look more crowded.
I'm calling for a 3k average attendance this year.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA die-hard owl fan... go to every single football, basketball and baseball game... but 3,000/game is LAUGHABLE.... come on, REALISTIC goals... i say 1,500/game would be a HUGE improvement from our 900/game last season!

I agree. 3,000 isn't realistic next year. Getting crowds in the 1000-1500 range every game would be a huge improvement and a good goal for this upcoming year.

definitely... i remember going home from every home game last season and wondering in my head, "did we break four digits tonight in attendance?"
3,000 is just not realistic UNTIL we have a span of multiple winning seasons and a conference championship and a berth to the NCAAs and some nice media coverage from our friend teddy hutton and marcus nelson :-)

i think its better if we have less seating. that will push more people futher up and make it look more crowded. It is the ole' small bar theory...People always go to the smaller bars/clubs rather then the bigger bars/clubs with the same amount of people, because it just looks more happening. I personally would much rather have chairback seats and less seating. Best thing that could happen to our program would be to not have enough seating. Could you imagine if an FAU Basketball ticket was hard to come by? And if that was the case, could you imagine the energy in the arena? It would be awesome!!!

I'm sure everyone that saw the Borrow at Fan Fest noticed they were painting it yellow. Just and update, the past 2 days they have been painting it gray and yesterday they were painting parts of it white.

There are some more pictures on the website of the Arena construction. Looks like good progress is being made. Can't wait to see the finished product.

There are some more pictures on the website of the Arena construction. Looks like good progress is being made. Can't wait to see the finished product. Yeah, I went and took some pictures yesterday and then noticed that Angelos had basically put up all the pictures I've taken, plus some inside that I can't get to. Outside: It looks like the pillars added to make the arena look "statelier" will be in three colors: white, peach and gray. Not sure why but I do like it. One of the pillars has small lights installed in each of the holes, so that's what's happening there. Inside: The new floor looks fantastic. The lobby ceiling is cool and I like all the wood in the new concession stands. I'm not so sure about the bleachers, though. I thought it was going to be all chairback seating except for the student section? I'm also curious how the video scoreboard is going to work... will it show instant replays? Ehhh, maybe speculation is worthless. We'll know more in a month or two. I thought I read it was supposed to be finished by September...

I don't think those are bleachers. They look like they hang too low. I think that the chairs will be attached to them.
