scout.scout.com/a.z?s=13&p=8&c=1&nid=2607634this guy was denied admission to Miami. I wonder if Rex is in contact with him. 6'10 center. ranked number 36 by rivals. I'm guessing he'll go the jc route but it would be nice to grab him now. anyone have an inside scoop?

Offers by Tennessee, Kansas State, Florida State, Arizona State, and FLORIDA... GUARANTEED contact by Walters...he was a team mate of Jamal Owen's last season on the Tropics... only thing is can he make our requirements?? if so, we have a leg up - he wants to be down here... See number 2. on this link for brief comment on his skill: www.floridahoops.com/060331.html

I'm not worried about our requirements.
would be pretty sick if Jamal could sell him on FAU.

I'm not worried about our requirements. would be pretty sick if Jamal could sell him on FAU. if we could pick him up game over for the rest of the lague - period...we would have an elite team across the board...guy was offered by top mid majors and high majors...with his skillset, hes capable of being a dominant player in the SBC... add him to the Monroe, and Hernandez and we have the best front court in Florida... not to mention that our OOC opponents would be in for serious scare - including Kansas...too bad they arent playing here, and have home court advantage...

If the guy was denied admission to UN because of grades, chances are he couldn't get in FAU. We've lost numerous football players for that reason. Joe Dawson and Corderro Drummond are two that come to mind.
Speaking of which, anyone know if Dawson will be able to attend FAU this fall? He was interesting in playing at FAU after a year of JC.

good point, but we are allowed a couple of "trials"...folks who are border line but could do it if they applied themselves...see Rice and Monroe for illustration...sure, you take the risk...but if the kid has some character to suceed, they will "waive" some requirements, i assure you...i was alluding to SAT and ACT requirements to keep him out, not so much grades...
nothing to offer on Dawson...would love to have him though!!

Getting another big man is big for the program because Haith needs to restock his stable of bigs and I'm told Freddy Asprilla isn't going to get into school because of the prep schooling issues he went through back in December when his hoops academy in Wisconsin went bankrupt.
from a blog i found.
