This campus has come along way since I attended. These pictures are really nice. The campus is still growing too.
Those buildings next to the water, those are the student housing apartments aren't they?
I was going to email someone at the college to put a slide show on the web site of the campus. Other college websites have that.
Brogan has done a good job bringing the campus up to speed. Now if he can just use some of that nack for success and bring the football team up to speed.
I haven't seen the campus since July 2000. Man am I home sick.

Nice Shots. Where are the shots of the BMW's, C-Class Mercedes and Lexus SUV??? The 3rd house on the right look familiar. I used to know someone who had a cousin who knew the maid who went to school with the nephew, who lived there.

How come I did not see 1 student in any of the pictures? Are they all at the stadium?

How come I did not see 1 student in any of the pictures? Are they all at the stadium? During the summer the campus is pretty dead that's why.

Just one more example of why we need Innovation Village..."If we build, they will come".

Just one more example of why we need Innovation Village..."If we build, they will come". That's the hope. Surely it will attract people for games, but Brogan envisions it as the "hub of university life"... and I'm curious to know what they're going to do that would make students want to go over there on a daily basis. Restaurants and recreation, hopefully. It's great to put up vast patios with chairs and umbrellas but why would we walk all the way down there just to sit around? One idea was for a nightclub there and the administration is not necessarily inclined toward that idea because they're concerned it might draw in "riff-raff" who have no affiliation or respect for the university itself. I understand that notion completely and suggested it be student only -- have to show your Owl Card to get in -- and we'll see where that goes. I think it's a long shot, especially since students may feel an FAU nightclub would be "lame" but I think if you did it right you could get people there on a weekly basis, especially since you could go there and drink/dance then walk back home to the dorms -- much safer than going out and driving home in a compromised state. Dining would make the most sense. A bowling alley might be feasible, depending on student interest. A movie theater isn't likely considering that Muvico is right next door. An arcade would be cool and I don't think it would be negated by Boomers being next door. I think a small woodern rollercoaster (perhaps like the Flying Unicorn at Universal) would be amazing but I think there is <1% chance of that happening unless I donated the money as an alumni years down the line. That would be cool though -- the only university with its own rollercoaster! According to themeparks.about.com: "A top-shelf roller coaster costs around $8 to $10 million dollars these days" ...that's actually not that bad!

A rollercoaster? On Campus??? that came out of left field! ha ha. How about helicopter rides? or a water park? I know, I know. It sounds absurd for a lot of reasons, but I'm sure a lot of things offered at universities now (bowling alley?) seemes absurd in the beginning. I'm not talking a huge, Dueling Dragons-type rollercoaster. I was saying something small, emphasis on small. The water park thing, and I understand that it was a joke, but if you think about it... build a leisure pool and a small "lazy river" around it (not that expensive to do) and you basically have yourself a rudimentary water park! I guarantee you we could do it, but I also guarantee that everyone who could make it happen would be antagonistic to the idea at this point -- especially since FAU doesn't want Sun Sentinel articles that say, "FAU, strapped for cash, builds small water park" Just another thing for Brogan to explain in Tallahassee. Unless it came from Alumni money. But Alumni tend to donate non-specifically (outside of scholarships).

UF's Reitz Union has a bowling alley, free game rental service, and an arcade, maybe that's where the idea came from. Bowling at the Reitz is fun!

UF's Reitz Union has a bowling alley, free game rental service, and an arcade, maybe that's where the idea came from. Bowling at the Reitz is fun! Exactly. I visited there recently and the bowling alley is small, but its' there. The pool table area is awesome and had a lot of people. There was an arcade there and that's hit or miss, but one machine had 25 old games you could cycle through -- THAT is a machine we need to get. There have been some suggestions floated around about changing the Grand Palm Room into the bowling alley but the people who could make it happen: 1) don't seem to think people would actually use it that often (probably a legitimate complaint... I only saw two people using the UF one) and 2) It would displace student groups who need the room for banquets, etc (duh) I have a feeling it may happen eventually, but not before I graduate, that's for sure.
