Maybe it is better that the shovel movement is happening this weekend instead of the MTSU game weekend. This will be right before the meeting and will still be fresh in peoples minds. Two weeks would have been too long. If anyone got pissed off or inspired, it may have worn off in two weeks.

The blue shovel movement will have the "bury the competition" meaning to it for the USF game unless it is used as a fund raising gimmick for the stadium. No more need to persuade the BoT.
Has anyone heard anymore about this?

Has anyone heard anymore about this? i pushed for a long term iconic symbol being established in our meetings...it was looked upon as favorable... expect a season ticket plan to be announced very soon and probably kick on Oct 1...it will be a two to three year plan with a commemerative Shovel being a part of the package... ill let them announce the details... i am going to wait until that takes place to make a move on the official display piece for the Oxley... it will look like this, but the color will be a Blue/Red theme: The brass pieces on the Shovel will be the wins from this season...each season from now until the stadium is opened will have its own shovel, and will be displayed in the Oxley...the admin liked this idea...there will be a small plauque below the Shovel detailing its symbolism and meaning, etc... i am also looking to meet with a member of a spirit club to see if they would be interested in doing a pre game ritual similiar to that of the Seminole riding out to the center of the field and spearing the 50 yard line...the admin was supportive of this as well... if anyone would like to pitch in ideas for storyboarding, and scripting, etc, feel free... this is the tie in to "Bury the Competition"... this was al supposed to be done in waves, and still is, but the initial Shovel "handout" ran into some troubles with the vendor...

Great idea about the shovel case. If it can somehow incorporate the phrase "Owl Country", that's even better. While they're putting up cases with shovels, maybe they can put up some more Owl stuff in there? It seems like the perfect place for a giant Owl head or something painted on the wall and there's nothing... What were you thinking for the pre-game ritual? When I first heard about Auburn's War Eagle, I was hoping we could do that. But then I heard that you can't train owls? And it obviously doesn't make sense to have an Owl ride a horse. One thing I did think about was having the team come in to Metallica's "Enter Sandman". The first minute is PERFECT for an entrance. Imagine this: It's 7 pm at FAU's home stadium. The people in the crowd are excited and ready to see the game. The lights in the stadium dim and red and blue lights sweep over the crowd as the song starts. At 16 seconds into the song, the drums come in. The crowd claps along in rhythm with the drum. Inside the FAU arch, where the football players are waiting, is a strobe light pulsing. Smoke is going off. At 55 seconds the song kicks in and that's when the team comes out. The song volume fades down and the announcer yells, "Heeeeeeere come the Fighting Owls!" Another idea would be to have the video portion of the scoreboard covered by red curtains. As the red and blue lights are sweeping, the red curtains are slowly drawn back to show a screen with fire in the background. The giant owl head logo fades in to view on top of the fire. You time this right and after the head comes into view, the song kicks in and the team runs out (as described before) That's my dream. If we could do this for Michigan State in 2010 it would be amazing.
