i think a hanging video scoreboard would be lost in the arena... the convocation center in 5 years? absolutely... but not in our current gymnasium - which is exactly what it is

fausports.cstv.com/view.gal?id=8378&template=player_galleryHere is the slide show of the renovation drawings. It took a few minutes to figure out how to get it on this board. Hopefully if they add more drawings, it will be to the same address. The hurricane damage may have been a blessing in disguise. There might not have been any renovation if the arena wasn't damaged.

Illinois Owl, do you just post everything two, three times for kicks or are you trying to be the number one poster on this board?
It was already said were the new drawings are, then someone posted the link and then again you put the link. Just don't see the need. And this is not the first, second, or 50th time either.

Great point, without that it may have never been upgraded to thelevel it is now...but i also think that Rex and this seasons success had something to do with it...the ROI is appearant long term, where as before it wasnt so clear... Must say i am a little - not alot - disappointed we didnt go for a hanging center court scoreboard...it looks like they just plan on upgrading the one there...maybe thats just an "illustration"...but it is great to see it will have full video...thats great! we havent been able to see replays...looking forward to that...and how it will help the lousy calls be brought to light better...and clock time reviews as well...they will have to have the full set up to run the board...good stuff! BTW, i am surprised they didnt do any renderings of the inside of the Arena...with the new seating arrangements and chairbacks going in...would seem that would be an intergral part - and would help RECRUITING as well...

If we want to be midmajor we have to consider ourselves midmajor... Im sticking with what the sign outfront says: FAU Arena "The Burrow" Suggest we ALL do the same...or you can always stand outside the "gym" while the rest of us are inside watching the game in the ARENA... Think opinions will change when it is all said and done...

A little grumpy today? I see where someone posted the link to the basketball web page on the FAU site. If you click on the link I posted you will discover it pulls up the slide show directly and not the FAU web site. It is easier for people to go directly to the pictures.

i agree that the lingo needs to change... i call it FAU Arena all the time
what i was saying is that our convocation center (down the road) would be the ideal place to introduce really fine things (i.e.: hanging scoreboard in the center of the court, things like that)
in comparison to a convocation center, the burrow IS a gymnaisium and i think it would be lost at the burrow
but i agree... FAU Arena is the home of the Basketball Owls
sorry for my words being lost in translation

to further my argument of "Gym vs. Arena".. here is Craig Angelos' response on the future of a convocation center idea and what would become of the burrow:
-----------------------------------------
Question from John If FAU adds a Convocation Center next to the football stadium and uses this center to host basketball games, what will become of the Burrow?
Response from Athletics Director Craig Angelos Dear John: If and when we get a new convocation center the “Burrow” would continue to remain in play by hosting our volleyball team because it is a great setting for volleyball. Additionally, the students would continue to use it as an extra facility even though the wellness center will be built at that time. It would also serve as a practice gym for our men's and women's basketball program. Keep in mind that if we did get a convocation center, it would be necessary to rent it out on a regular basis similar to what they do at the University of Miami. Therefore it would not be sitting idle daily so that men's and women's basketball could practice in it. Rather they would be practicing in the “Burrow” also. Plus, the only difference a convocation center would provide to us on a daily basis would be a place to play our games but all the other activities such as practices would still be conducted in the Burrow.
Thanks, Craig

Found it - from a response directly from T-Rex and was posted in an earlier thread by : fauowlHere is the response that was posted: Here is an overview of the upgrades that will take place at The Burrow (from Coach Walters blog)...: Response from Coach Walters ...we will be adding chair back seating to the lower west sideline as well as both baselines. Our idea is to leave the lower east sideline bleacher seating for students. It is our sincere hope that as the student support for our basketball teams grow, we will be able to fill this lower section with students that will get vocal in support of their team. The thought is to try and create an atmosphere similar in nature to Duke University Basketball where the entire lower level is bleacher seating and students stand and cheer throughout the game. I was wondering why they wouldn't give us chairback seating... I thought it was a little insulting, but since we're on our feet all the time anyway, I shrugged it off. So this makes sense... although when I flip on the TV and see these huge basketball arenas at places like UKansas, I can't help but wish that was an FAU Arena. I hope they build the Convocation Center. I hope it's amazing. FAU seems to build things modestly with the plan to eventually add on to it years later down the road... a strategy which is undeniably underwhelming and it's a real nail in our side if we're trying to recruit top students, whether athletics or otherwise. In addition to this interior atmosphere, we are trying to create a more festive game day experience outside of the arena. Excellent! Looks like the Innovation Village idea has been extended to the Burrow. A fantastic idea! I'm glad FAU has started to integrate the rich social culture that's developing here into their architectural schematics. The current roadway will be blocked off and resurfaced with pavers. This will allow us to develop a pre-game social area where the band, cheerleaders and dance team can perform while vendors offer pre-game food and beverages. We are hoping this will bring a downtown appeal to the exterior of the arena and provide a perfect space for pre-game gatherings. I love this. Absolutely love it. There will be a ticket kiosk located in the island that is currently outside the arena... Anyone wishing to enter the building will now have to present their tickets prior to ever entering the facility. This will provide a more collegiate feel and help decrease the clutter in the lobby itself. By island, I assume they mean the grass island just south of the Burrow. I hope they get rid of that awful sculpture that currently plagues that area as a side-effect of this new kiosk. If anything, we should have a bronze statue of an FAU basketball player there. The lobby will have a team store, new lighting, new tile flooring and wainscoting in order to upgrade its appeal. Excellent. The one thing I really wanted to see is a collection of framed logos on the wall from all the teams we've beaten (to be called "The Wall of Victories"). For instance, one picture would show the "FIU Panthers" logo and beneath it would be the years we've beaten them. I think it would be a great point of pride to come in and see all these victories.

on FIU, we should list 2006-2007 as the year we beat them THREE times! Thats pretty tough for anyone to do with almost any team...much less a rivalry team...
