Since I was digging through my pictures, here's a sketch I found on a Faculty presentation RE: Innovation Village from the early dome project that shows the apartments... That's an interesting sketch that I haven't seen before... are there any others from that meeting?

If they can do it on the present land great, I am all for it. Build it high and build it big. Buying land is a whole different issue. University growth is a double edged sword when land is in short supply and high demand. I love the idea of having 10,000 kids on campus, just not if the university has to buy an extra 50 acres at the cost of millions of dollars. We're pretty much on the same page, although I do think that buyind land -- even at the cost of millions of dollars -- is a wise investment in the long run as Boca eats up all the space around FAU. Did you know that at one time, they seriously considered turning the village apartments into Greek Housing? I'm half-glad we dodged that bullet (half because we could have had Greek Housing, although it would have been as bad as USF's...)

I heard over the week end that there is a chance that Glades Park Towers may not be ready by move-in day. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, although everything I've read suggests that it's on-time. As I'm sure you know already, they already took down the construction fencing and started the landscaping work. So it should be okay -- and if not, that's 600 kids they need to put in local hotels until it IS ready and I don't see the university looking too kindly on that option (not just because of the money but also because of the "bad first impression" thing)

Yep... they're from a "promotional video" shown before the Innovation Village presentation to the BOT. I'm sorry, I thought you guys had already seen these. I love the Owl head on the Jeep tire cover (picture 5)

So are they going to put a pond on campus near the stadium?? As I recall the only water on campus is on the S and E, not the NW. However the sketch shows a body of water.
GO OWLS!!!

Those pics are way cool. They give me a Universal CityWalk or even a Seminole Hard Rock whatever-it's-called feel.
Nebraska has a large stadium store like this (not as nice but right across an alley from the stadium) in Lincoln.

now for the real question:
what do the drawing(s) look like for the stadium that was approved to proceed with??
because this is all from the dome project and i would imagine alot of this "vision" has changed or lost the budget to actually build...
not being a pesimist here, but i would like to see what we are actually looking at to come to fruition (ie the arena rennovations drawings we see taking place now)

IIRC, the requested Innovation Village called for a Dome that would cost around $180 million, whereas the current projection is an open-air stadium at around $60 million.

From the drawings and the disign that BMarkey posted it looks like the long yellow building will be the shopping complex. In the drawings it seems to open in the center toward the stadium. If they are the slightest bit accurate it is going to be really cool.
GO OWLS!!!

Looks like the red is something other than parking. The parking is drawn in whereas the red is raised like it represents some type of building. GO OWLS!!!

Parking garages
I like how the breezeway continues north across that new road into the stadium and dorms area.

Yellow is dorms? Are they going to sound proof the side towards the airport or put up a sound barrier by the runway?
