Looking foward to our game this fall. What positions do you think you are strongest at?

TBD on offense...new RB that could step in immediately...new WR that may as well...our TE situation is much better and we will play two guys that were out due to injury...so, should be better...
On defense, we are solid at LB - strength...also DE...and DL in general...so so in the secondary, but that was mostly due to youth last year...should be improved in that area overall givens last years maturing process, and furthermore after spring and fall practices...

I can't imagine opening with a conference game - makes no sense and sure don't think Coach S. would agree to that.
With all our healed injuries and needed experience we should be seeing quite a different team in the spring. I am sure we will have players fighting hard to make the traveling team - who wouldn't want the chance to suit up and play IN THE SWAMP !!!

The SunBelt is trying to even out the scheduling - a situation made more difficult by the entrance of WKU. It was really bad, with FAU and FIU going to Troy in one year and Troy coming south twice in one year (last year). The same problem was happening with the Louisiana schools.
Starting next year, FAU has to go to Alabama only once a year. But Troy has to come to FIU for a second consecutive year. NT has had to come to Troy twice in two years.

Any recommendations on where to stay in Gainesville for the epic battle? I've got 5 frineds (6 of us in all) driving up and looking for something close to the Swamp so we can stumble home after tearing down the goal posts ;D

You're not going to find anything close to the stadium at this point. Everything right off campus is booked. Try the Days Inn off 13th just south of campus.

So the Kentucky game is Sept. 29 and the USF game, which was listed on that day is now listed as Oct. 6th on the USF site. The original schedule posted on page 1 of this thread lists us at Troy on the 6th and so does Troy's website. Does anyone know when the Troy game will be held?

Middle Tennessee released their schedule today. We host them on Sept. 1 for the season opener. Hopefully that game will be on campus in Boca!

I don't have a problem with our first game coming against a conference opponent. I think it gives us a chance to get a win right out of the gate.

Being a conference game, I don't know how much of a choice we actually had in this, but I don't have a problem with it either. Especially against MTSU who lost a bunch of starters including their QB. Having a chance to play against a QB likely starting his first NCAA game should be an advantage for us. Plus it will hopefully be a big crowd in our first true home game on campus in our temp. stadium.

not only that but it also gives us a chance to build momentum for our fan base. if we actually win our first game i think a lot of the fairweather fans are more likely to come out again. when the first home game of the year is for a team thats 0-5 the fans on the fence don't bother coming out.

Since we are playing the Smurf Puppies for our Home Opener, I will be looking forward to the nice friendly banter with our friend BRP, it should make for a lively board leading up to game time He has not shown his face in a while
