Excellent news. Who exactly did you all meet with? Was it just the athletic department? Ive tried to get posts on the blog but they all need to be approved now. Not sure when that happened. 1.) As Bytor said, the shovels will be allowed in the stadium and we can distribute them in front of the gates. Well also have a pamphlet describing what its for those who don't read the boards or the blog. 2.) Official Address to send checks for this Florida Atlantic University Attn: Terry Mohajir 777 Glades Road Boca Raton, FL. 33431 Make Checks payable to FAU Athletics and in the Reference mark "LIL RED SHOVEL" 3.) Lots of things were thrown around and the whole concept was very well received by both Dexter and Terry. We also were put onto some distributors that might be able to get us more shovels and actually have them be red like we wanted. They also indicated that Coach S would be thrilled with the concept. So Owl Fans, were official. This is not a scam. The university is working with us and will pay the distributor for us once were ready to order. PLEASE send those checks to the above address. Its less then 28 days till kickoff. Lets Go OWLS!

This is great news!
I'm glad the money is being handled this way. It makes everything above board. I was afraid with the way FAU is being watched under a microscope by the press, handling money had to be done properly.

Excellent news. Who exactly did you all meet with? Was it just the athletic department? The meeting was with Terry Mohajir, Dexter Lamont & Katrina McCormack from the Athletic department , along with four Rep. of the Red Shovel movement. It is rather amazing the life this movement has taken, from a movement of protest to something that has far greater meaning behind it, something fans can identity with - The Stadium, Progress, Growth of the Athletic porgrams, etc. The most important part is that the Athletic department is in full support of this and will give us the resources we need to keep this movement and drive alive - this is about the fans and the pledges given will represent the voice of the fans, so in essence it works as a voice of protest & fan solidarity at the same time for a great cause - the Stadium. We all have displayed & voiced our displeasures about the foot-dragging, well now is the time to show support and voice your fustration at the same time supporting the Stadium we fans & players deserve.

You know I kinda like the "Fake Howard" graphics - the moustache kinda look like owl wings We need T-shirts to sell too with proceeds going to the stadium so we should take up the offer from the graphics guys - get started !! Let us know how we can help at the games. [glow=red,2,300] O.G. Owl will be proud !![/glow] Go Owls and the Blue Shovelhead Movement !!

This is a post this morning by D-Owl, he has several great points everybody. We all need to get off our back sides and open our checkbooks just a little. Pleas read his post.
Morning All
I need everybody who has pledged a donation, and has sent in a check, money order, to please send me D-Owl an e-mail @ thefaushovel@yahoo.com and advise me who you are and what you have contributed. Everybody is asking how much do we have and who has contributed. I know of only one players family who has contributed to the shovel cause. Now there may be others, but with only screen names it makes it almost impossible to know for sure. One would think that every family with a son (football player) on scholarship, would be able to scrape up a little money and actually help support the program that has offered their son an opportunity to continue his dream, as well as getting a first rate education. Maybe the new kids/families all do not know about the blogs, or even the shovel movement yet. That may be the reason that we have not heard from many. I know that the one players family that has contributed has done so through three different family members, so I know some of them read the blogs. I myself see parents commenting in the Owls Nest, yet they appear to have avoided the Red Shovel blog, and have made no such commitment, which would surely benefit their son !
Everybody needs to keep this shovel movement on top of the table, we need to get the message out to all the players families. One can only hope that if they do not know about us yet, that once they do it will start another swell of support. So everybody please try and get in touch with one or two other families that you know and ask them to help support our efforts, after all it's for them more than anybody.
As for the Alumni, I have no idea what their excuses are. They surely out number all the players families, as well as the general local fan base. We need all you so called Alumni to open that check book and support your school, and it's new football program. Today, not later on. Make Owl Country a reality, make Football the schools biggest thing it has going for it, besides an education. Just like every other major school in Florida, or this great country we call America !! We/they deserve at least that much, don't you all agree ?
Again I want to thank everybody who has contributed to our cause, and if you can not afford a contribution, then how about sending an e-mail and see if there is anything else they can do. We have about what 70-80 players, so how many family members would that make. If just every family got all their family together and made a donation, we would be so there already.
So everybody out there in Owl Country, stop circling up high and land just long enough to help our kids, and the program out !!!
Like they say and I have repeated several times, "Just Do It" NOW !! WE, no our kids and the program need you today !!!
I'll be looking for your e-mails !!!!!!!
Now Go Owls !!!

You have added a second family to the list of contributors.
Please all - do your part. Do this for your son and future Owls. Any amount will add to the bank and to our cause. Help show our sons that we care and can make a difference - they certainly are.
Practice starts next week !!!
Go Owls !!

Follow link to "The Blue Shovel"A link will be on the bottom right side. Bytor, I see you have a link on your blue shovel to the red shovel that I set up. I think the shovel movement should have one website to have the most impact. I am proposing that I take down TheRedShovel.com site now that the shovel is to be blue. I also own the domain: TheBlueShovel.com. I can point that to your site and go with your content. You will control the content. But it gives a website name to the movement that I think needs to be included on the flyers in order to grow the attention. What does everyone think? I think one place to go get shovel info and also get all FAU links is great for the "marketing" of the movement as well as educating people on FAU in general.

Clarification and update here...i believe we may be leanig towarda a dual color scheme...Blue is not officially nalied down as of yet based on some feedback and communication form Admin today... regardless of color, its the momentum and support that matters most!
